Weaned!

We are completely weaned. Praise Jesus! It was sad the last time I fed her - knowing it would be the last - but at the same time I was also very happy. Kind of another bitter/sweet moment.

The rest of this blog is going to be about how I weaned my princess. So for some of you, it may not be very interesting. (However, you may want to skip down to the picture at the end.) This is like a Works for Me Wednesday blog but on Friday instead.

I started the weaning process by taking away the lunch time feeding. I did this for several weeks, because she did not take formula or milk from a bottle or a sippy cup before. At lunch I would give her a sippy cup with formula/milk. She only would drink 1-2 ounces during lunch. It was a start.

When I decided to completely wean her, I then took away her supper nursing session. I did this for 3-4 days. I would give her milk for lunch and supper. She still didn't drink much.

Then I took away her breakfast nursing. As soon as she would wake up I would feed her a bowl of Cheerios in milk. She has been eating this for several months now.

Three to four days after taking her breakfast feeding away, I took the night time feeding away. We made it through two nights now without the feeding. I sometimes give her a little snack before bed, but not very much. She is sleeping anywhere from 10-12 hours a night. I really don't think she needs to eat before she sleeps.

She still doesn't drink alot of milk. Yesterday she drank a total of 5 ounces. I think she is still getting used to the flavor of milk so I am not going to sweat it just yet. (She does drink water.) I feed her yogurt at lunch and supper, so she is still getting calcium and whatever comes in dairy products.

The weaning process was so easy. I was surprised. I don't know if it is this easy for all babies (and I'm sorry if it doesn't go that easily for you). I truly believe God knew that I was ready and he since he does care about the desires of my heart, He prepared Princess for this weaning. He is an awesome God.

I can't believe how fast time flies. This is our next big adventure, I guess.
