I Need Recommendations - NYC

As I stated in my last post, Hubby and I are going to be spending a day in New York City. We are very excited! Hubby hasn't been their in over 10 years. I was just there about 3 years ago with a couple of girl friends to shop.

Hubby and I are trying to decide what to do while we are there. We decided not to do a show, because we think it will take up too much of our day. We would like to do touristy (I don't think that is an actual word) things, i.e. Times Square, Central Park, FAO Schwartz, 5th Ave.

Do you have any recommendations? We are not big on museums. We love to window shop. We were also thinking of going to the Statue of Liberty, but we are afraid that it will take up too much time.

I agree...definitely Little Italy!

If you want the BEST Italian food ever... go to Carmines, it's near the theater district. They serve you family style so you both could eat from one plate and still have left overs.

I did hear that Carmine's was a great place to eat - have not been there my self.

I enjoyed Soho and Greenwich Village. I think that you should just decide what you would like to do and if it is the Statue of Liberty and dinner, then do that! Or, if it is just walking around, I think that you listed a couple of great places to visit!

CJ and I completely disagree on what you should do. So, this is comment is strictly from me!

I think, even though you say you aren't museum people, you should throw caution to the wind and explore the Met. It's incredible. I could spend days there!!!

Central Park should be beautiful by the time you get up there. The leaves will just be starting to turn and you can even take a ride in a canoe on the pond or consider a carriage ride. CP is by a bunch of other shops and grand hotels.

I've done the Radio City Music Hall tour before and it is fun and interesting. Also, you can check into the CNN studios tour, as well as the NBC studios tour. I would love to do both, someday.

Also, I am about positive that it was Carmines that I ate at years and years ago. It was delicious. I still can't remember where we ate for Thanksgiving that one year. But I can tell you that everytime CJ and I visited NYC we stopped at the Stardust Cafe (located in the Broadway area) for a breakfast smoothie. It was sweet.

Oh.... I really, really do love NYC, especially in the fall.

I'm tellin ya, I am praying our next move takes us north (if its in the states) and more north then PA!!!

Have fun!

I've only been to NYC once for touristy stuff, and we ate at Carnegie Deli. I fell in love with the dill pickles. They are amazing. Years and years ago, we were there on a home missions trip with the teens. We took a night to walk around South Street and ate at the street vendors' carts - the kids love it, but The Boss and I felt queasy when we were done.

FAO Schwartz was amazing - first time I was there it was Christmas. Second time was with the teens and it was close to 4th of July - I think I liked the 4th decor and stuff better than the Christmas. Christmas was way too overdone for a simple country gal like me.

Enjoy! And tell us all about it!
