Ramblings of a Tired, Pregnant Woman

For the last 2 weeks, I have been feeling overwhelmed, tired, and irritable. (If you know me, you may add to the list.) I know there are several reasons for this, but I think it's mostly because I haven't been getting the sleep that I need. (If you need a reminder read this post.)

Princess has been waking up twice a night for about 2 weeks now. At first I thought it was because of teething, but now I'm wondering if it has to do with getting the nursery ready.

We started painting the nursery about 2 weeks ago. We knew the light switch was old/cloth wiring. My father-in-law (who is an electrician) came over to replace the wiring for us and realized that half of the house was wired that way. So for the last week he has been spending his evenings with us rewiring our house. (PTL - it's done!)

Anyhow, Hubby has been painting, rewiring, finalizing taxes, etc. every evening for the last 2 weeks. Therefore, I entertain princess all day and all evening. He helps put her to bed, but then I'm on duty again in the middle of the night (except weekends - our agreement). So now I am thinking, Princess is not sleeping through the night because she is realizing a change or just missing daddy (Daddy, I'm not saying this to make you feel guilty. It's just what I am thinking.)

This past Saturday, Princess spent the entire day (11:30 am to 8:30 pm) with Grammy. PTL for Grammy. Hubby and I went shopping and out for lunch. I got the royal treatment. Hubby opened my car door and any other door for me the entire time. It was very weird though because I don't usually let anybody do anything for me and this is something I can definitely do. I got to choose what we did. Of course I choose shopping and the Olive Garden. However I did not make out with the shopping. Hubby got 5 new shirts. We got the baby 2 new outfits. And I got a free pair of panties at Victoria's Secret - that I can't wear for at least 2 months - THAT'S IT! Oh well, hopefully after this baby is born I will get another shopping spree. It still was worth it. I got a much needed break from Princess.

This may be why I feel overwhelmed. This is a picture of the nursery. It's painted, but a light switch rewiring turned into the floor being ripped up. Now all that we need to get done in the next 5 weeks (that is if he is not early) is the floor put back together. We decided to get carpeting installed which should happen next week. The trim work around the light switch needs fixed. My dad is refinishing an old dresser. The crib needs put together. Organizing all his stuff. Oh and did I mention a ceiling fan needs installed. I think that is it.

I'm not stressed. I know in the back of my mind that a baby doesn't really need a bedroom to come home to. I know it will get done, but just not at a snap of a finger like I would like. That's what happens when a procrastinator marries another procrastinator. (A couple of you can say "I told you so!" about the nursery.)

But things are getting done, and that's good. I'm a terrible procrastinator, too, and pretty much the only time we did home improvements were at the end of my pregnancies when I felt the urge to get things done! It was so satisfying to have things accomplished, although the contractors working on our bathroom were there for a week after Jamie was born (which wasn't perfect timing). It's good you're relaxed about it all. Try to get some sleep.

Hey there,
I read this post when you first wrote it but never had time to comment! Been thinking about you. I know that you are about to undergo some transition in your house, with you new one on the way. God has it all under control. You were made to be a mommy of at least two!!!
CJ and I wish that we were close to home. Scratch that. We wish we were close to you guys (and a few other friends too!!).
Much love!
