Uncle Jesse

Tonight, we had to say a long "see you later" to my brother(-in-law). You see, he is leaving for the U.S. Army tomorrow afternoon. He is the first of our immediate family to move far away. It will be strange not have him close to home.

I have known Uncle Jesse since he was 8-years-old. He has always been a very loveable, energetic boy. He almost always has a smile on his face and he can definitely make anyone laugh.
I have been lucky enough to be his "sister" the last 13 years. Although he has made many choices that I have either rolled my eyes at, didn't agree with, or just wanted to slap some sense into him, I am still proud to be his sister.

Now at the age of 21, he is leaving to follow his heart which is to serve our country. It makes me even more proud of him. We are going to miss him so much.

Uncle Jesse, You are an awesome man. You will be in our prayers every day, several times a day. Make us proud. We will miss you, but we are happy that you are where you want to be. Have fun! We look forward to seeing you on your return trips. And don't forget, WE LOVE YOU!!!!

OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As soon as I saw his photo, I said to myself, I know this kid...where do I know him from?.....then it hit me, and I flipped out for a minute (ask Dawson).

Let's just say that your brother was in one of my first homerooms at EPHS (not my favorite HR)! I am glad to hear that he is doing well and going to serve our country - I am very proud of him too. (he would probably know me by my maiden name).

I can't believe how the years have flown by - he's 21?!!!! Wow.

But yes, our prayers go with him also and we are proud to know that he is serving us and his country in this way!

I don't think Jesse knows me - but I recognize him. Same place Promises knows him from but I never taught him.

And now...I feel really old
